The Silent Island

“The Silent Island” – a cute story for your next kids’ yoga class.

“Far across the sea lies a mysterious island where no one speaks; not the people, not the animals, not even the trees. But the silence is not empty. It’s full of breath, stillness, and listening.

One day, a child named Nilo arrived. He had many words and questions, but when he tried to speak, the wind carried his voice away.

“How can I understand anything if no one talks?” he wondered.

A breeze whispered: “Listen. Not with your ears. With your whole body.”

  • He sat down in stillness and felt the island around him. – Sukhasana
    “I arrive. I feel.”
  • He moved gently with his breath. – Marjaryasana–Bitilasana
“I listen to my breath. I feel my body.”
  • He folded forward, resting in silence. – Balasana
“I am quiet. I am safe.”
  • He balanced like a bird in the wind. – Virabhadrasana III
    “I focus. I glide.”
  • He stood like a tree, still and aware. – Vrksasana
    “I stand. I listen.”
  • He folded down and let go. – Uttanasana
    “I let go. I rest.”

That evening, Nilo didn’t need to speak. He had listened with his breath. He had spoken with his stillness. And the island had heard him.”

You can close the session with: “When we move gently and listen fully, the world speaks in a different way.”
