“The Flying Bird” – a lovely sequence for your next kids’ yoga class.
“Once upon a time, in a land filled with golden fields and sparkling lakes, there was a small bird named Aria. Aria loved to explore the skies, but one day, she decided to take a special journey to discover the secret of freedom and balance. Along the way, she faced challenges that strengthened her wings and heart.
As the sun rose, Aria woke up in her cozy nest. She gently stretched her wings and back, preparing her body for flight. “I feel ready to take on the sky,” she chirped. – Marjaryasana-Bitilasana
Aria flapped her wings and soared into the air. Balancing her body, she stretched one leg back and leaned forward, gliding smoothly through the sky. – Virabhadrasana III
After a long flight, Aria landed on a tall tree to rest. She perched on one foot, keeping her balance as the tree swayed gently in the wind. “Even the tallest trees must stay grounded,” she said. – Vrksasana
The wind began to pick up and Aria wrapped her wings around herself, steadying her body like a strong eagle braving the storm. – Garudasana
When the storm passed, Aria saw a calm, glistening lake below. She swooped down and stretched her wings along the ground, lifting her chest to gaze at her reflection in the water. “The sky and water are one,” she said. – Bhujangasana
With her heart full of strength, Aria spread her wings wide and soared higher than ever before, feeling truly free. “This is the secret — to balance, to stretch, to fly,” she sang. – Star Pose, standing with feet wide apart and arms outstretched
As the day came to an end, Aria found a quiet nest among the trees. She tucked her wings around herself, closed her eyes and breathed deeply. “Now I rest, ready for tomorrow’s skies,” she whispered. – Balasana”
You can close the session by encouraging the children to reflect on Aria’s journey, reminding them that balance, focus, and rest help us find our own freedom and strength.
